Jim's new shear that he is going to use for the siding came in at Home Depot, so I started the day off by heading there to pick it up, along with a couple supplies Jim needed.
Meanwhile, Jim was busy at the property. He took apart the lower stair run so that he could attach the bottom to the concrete. This is always scary because of the Pex tubing underneath the concrete. Jim had planned for the stairs to be attached so he didn't put Pex in where he thought the stairs would end up. But being sure enough to drill through the concrete is another thing! We looked for pictures that would show us placement - you'd think with all the pictures I take that we'd have the perfect one. Not so much.
Anyway, Jim made a template with a hole in it so that the drill wouldn't move as he was drilling - he stood on the edges of the template to hold it in place.
Then he used the special epoxy to anchor the bolts into the concrete. He wanted them to set up, so it was on to other projects.
Like the lintel! This will have to come back down when we do our next batch of mortar, because mortar goes underneath the ends where it sits on the brick. But Jim wanted to make sure that everything lined up perfectly - and it did!
Next, Jim started making aluminum flashing to sit on top of the lintels.
All four pieces of flashing made!
I started painting some of the new Miratek trim boards that were delivered recently.
First batch done.
Our next project was very fun - we started doing some preliminary layouts in the apartment! First, a little cleaning...
Jim set up his laser level to mark perfect angles for the bedroom walls. It was a lot of fun to start seeing the paper drawing come to life. It also let us decide on some things like knee wall placement for the angled walls. Lots more to do but it was fun to start!
Jim has his kidney stone surgery tomorrow morning - we'll be SO glad when this chapter is behind us!
