Then Jim worked on getting the lawn mower back together and working. The new part did the trick - it works and the alternator is charging the battery, so all that is good. Another block checked.
While we were waiting for the building inspector, Jim started bringing more dirt down for us to use to backfill. You can see how our giant piles are disappearing! He would bring scoops of dirt and then I would pick the big rocks out of it.
The building inspector showed up early afternoon and couldn't say enough nice things about the way everything looked. He said again how much he trusts Jim. He told us a couple stories about well-known builders in town doing just terrible jobs on houses they are building now. He said we've gone over and above what we've needed to do for the backfilling so he gave us his final blessing - yay, another inspection passed with flying colors!
But then it was back to work. This side took a lot of care and slow movements of the Bobcat to be able to turn the corner from the front of the building. I held my breath a few times, but Jim is so good with the Bobcat and really knows what he's doing. So after he puts a little dirt on the geo fabric to hold it in place, he dumps a load of dirt in the area. I again pick out rocks that escaped the first picking so that no big rocks are too close to the dimple board.
Here you can see how Jim was able to build a "road" and get the Bobcat over to the side!
It really looks amazing...
Unfortunately, I meant to take a picture from up on top of the hill showing how much we got done but I got busy cleaning up at the end of the day and forgot. Jim actually ended the day cutting grass with the newly-fixed mower.
