He got home a little after lunch and we took off to get a few things done. We had to stop at the welding place - the gauges on his gas welder need rebuilding so he dropped those off to be redone. Then we headed out to Whitehall which is only about 30 miles away - it's very close to Vermont. This is the area that has all the amazing stone places that I had stopped at once to get a quote for our pedestal cap.
We stopped at one place and the guy told us that they get all the granite from the mountains right on the property or at a quarry down the road. The granite is just beautiful. As you drive on the road to get to these places, the granite in the mountains is just unbelievable. The guy told us that he would take us on a tour - he said it's fascinating. So we are definitely going to do that.
We went to the place that had originally given us a quote so we could see the bluestone that we were considering and see the different edges and finishes they can put on the slab. They also gave us a piece so that we can check and make sure the color is okay. Jim also talked to them about the possibility of using bluestone for outside window sills for the house.
So it was a good use of an on/off rainy afternoon. This isn't a great picture, but the skies were amazing on our way home...
