11.16.2014

Another chilly day but we still got some good things accomplished.  Jim wanted to take one more measurement with the laser level for the septic system - he's plotting all the measurements to see how the elevation is and what he will need to do.

Then we started working inside the building, getting ready for the shoring that will need to be done to support the snow load on the deck over the winter - as well as be in place for the concrete in the spring.

Jim first compacted the area well.

Then we set up scaffolding.  On the left set of scaffolding, you can see that the screw jacks were placed on top so that Jim can accurately adjust the support of the deck.  He needs to order some more short pieces of scaffolding like the ones shown below also.  So this will be a work in process but it's a start.  Plus we did inventory of how many screw jacks we have (enough!) and what we need to order.

We also counted how many end caps we still need to make - Jim will have to order more steel to make those.

Then we also started gathering some wood to use for the base for the temporary walls we will build for the winter to keep the main area more protected.  Again, a work in progress but gave Jim an opportunity to lay things out and see what needs to be ordered.
