11.3.2014

Jim started off the day stopping at the building department to talk to the inspector.  He couldn't stop today but he'll be out tomorrow afternoon to look at everything before giving us the okay on backfilling.  He told Jim that he trusted him and he could continue working on it - he just needed to stop to check the block.  That kind of relationship is so wonderful to have with a building inspector!

By the time I got to the land at lunchtime, Jim had already been extending our "road" in the back of the building.  This system is working out really well and we are so pleased with the way everything is turning out.

We got more dimple board up and then continued on filling everything in.

Putting the geo fabric all the way to the end of this side!

You can really picture how the final grading is going to look now.  Jim may go back and put another foot or so of dirt in this area, but that will be it for winter.  He doesn't want too much stress on the building since the concrete won't be poured on the deck to counter the forces of the dirt pushing on the building.

Jim wanted to leave a little area of the footers exposed for the building inspector to look at tomorrow, but we have gravel pretty much up to the right level on the side.  Unfortunately, we ran out of dimple board - you can see that this little corner is all we have left to do!  There was a little more waste with this material because you want the dimple board to be continuous from top to bottom.  It may rain one day this week so we'll make a trip back down to Albany to get another roll - and then we'll just save the rest for the house!
