Jim put up another piece of drywall this morning in the auto bay so this wall is done...
But after that, it was all concrete prep work. Trimming the grass that had grown up in the pad area outside the stairwell door...
Putting dirt on the sides to hold the forms in place...
Then gravel to grade it all out...
Next it was time to put the expansion joint where the concrete will meet the house. This is a new foam product which seems very nice. We first chalked a line and then Jim started putting it in place...
Jim was very inventive and used the spray adhesive that he uses for insulation to keep the foam in place on the wall...
All done...
Next was making sure all the tools were ready. He checked the oil in the power screed and tightened up the controls...
Trying it out...
Then it was the new handle attachment on the float...
To keep the rusty steel forms from sticking to the concrete when it's time to remove them, Jim sprays the forms with used oil...
The main areas are all prepped and ready to go. Jim's anticipating that there will be a little concrete left over; if so, he wants to pour this small pad where he will put the hose reel so we aren't washing things on the ground. Starting to make forms...
Putting dirt on the outside of the forms - notice the wood forms are sprayed with oil as well...
Everything is as ready as possible for tomorrow morning!
Stairwell pad all ready as well...
Kyle's coming up late tonight - hope everyone can get some good sleep before the big day!
