Jim worked in the stairwell this morning before it heated up - he scraped the last coat...
Then put another coat of plaster on...
Then he started taping the new drywall...
In the wood shop, he got another coat on the area he was working on and will be ready to move on to the next section now.
Then he started cutting pieces of drywall for the next section he wants to finish - the lower stairwell landing.
Jim had always planned for an access panel in this area so that in case he ever needed to do any kind of repair to the plumbing for the boiler system, he could get to everything. He decided to make it a little bigger so first moved the steel up a bit and then got to work installing drywall...
Next piece of drywall up...
J-channel is fit on all of the edges and Jim is fastening everything down. I told Jim that this area reminds me of the front of Lucy's psychiatric booth, so if you have really sharp eyes, you can see he wrote Lucy, 5¢ on the drywall! The doctor is in!
Jim may need a different kind of doctor after this piece for the ceiling. This required some work - the screws putting the stairwell steel together prevented the drywall from slipping in easily to the space Jim left for it at the top of the wall. He had to cut a little bit of drywall off from those pieces. Then putting up the drywall, while on the ladder, working above his head...
But it's up and in place with enough screws to hold it in place until he can get the light area cut out...
After all that, he still had energy left to do his treadmill workout - amazing!
