Jim spent some computer time this morning, plotting out the next two concrete pours on the computer and making a final decision on which side of the driveway to start on first. There are pros and cons to both, of course.
After that, he headed down into the auto bay. He shut the power off and unwired all of the receptacles in the next two wall sections to be drywalled.
This afternoon, his focus was on framing for concrete. He needed some more forms so he took his concrete/steel saw up to the pile of steel and cut a section...
Bringing the steel up the driveway...
Jim had welded a couple of these pieces to make I-beams when we were doing all the shoring for the raised concrete deck - now it was time to cut the welds so that he had two separate pieces...
Both beams are separated and he can use them to extend the formwork...
Out came the laser level to check heights...
Scraping the gravel away from the front of the garage...
Using his 4" block (the thickness of the concrete) to check for the right depth...
A little hand shoveling...
He's got this area looking really good!
