2.16.2017

After our measuring work yesterday, Jim knew exactly how much of each gauge wire he needed to make the run from the breaker box to the range and from the box to the dryer.  He headed out this morning to pick up the wire.

I also had to run some errands in the morning - including stopping at Lowe's for a treasure hunt of different electric boxes Jim needed!  I stopped at the property on my way home to drop things off and see the day's progress.

After I had left yesterday, Jim continued to work on some finishing framing details in the kitchen.  This picture shows the strapping pieces that Jim attached for drywall installation.

Figuring out how to finish the areas encompassing the valley rafters has been a big question mark.  But here you can see that Jim has put angle and bent it in such a way that he can later attach the drywall.  Plus, all the pieces overlap and intersect to make strong joints.

He continued working more on this today - adding more pieces going up the rafter towards the ceiling.

A huge accomplishment today was getting the high-power wire from the breaker box, through the conduit and up into the apartment - then going through our grommets to the box for the range.

As you can see, he also got the wire that goes into the laundry room for the dryer as well as for two more receptacle circuits in the kitchen!  Of course, each wire becomes increasingly more difficult to push through the conduit - Jim had to use his fish tape to wrangle them through the mass of heavy wire in the conduit.  Which all makes him very glad that he decided to go with bigger conduit for this area.

You can see the breaker box taking shape with all the kitchen circuits - none are wired into the box yet but they are ready to go.

Jim also did some modification in the laundry room.  He decided he wanted a vent behind the area where the refrigerator will go.  This will serve two purposes - it will allow the refrigerator to vent and will allow better air flow into the laundry room for the dryer.  Of course, this involved taking out the stud, cutting it off, and making a sturdy header.  You can see the wire going through the studs over to the opposite side of the room where the dryer will be.

Jim also got some receptacles switched out in the kitchen - some of the ones I bought were adjustable receptacles so that the position can be moved depending on what tile we use.
