Last night before he came home, Jim started working on moving this big pile of topsoil farther up the hill and out of the way of trucks and equipment.
When I went out for lunch, Jim said that he started thinking that with all of these delays on the concrete pour, maybe it was God telling him to look a little closer at his shoring. So he did, which equals more shoring!
He decided to redo the way the center support posts were sitting on the ground. When it rains, water comes in where the openings in the deck are over the beams. He said that wet ground doesn't have the same load capacity as dry ground - so he redid the posts so that they are sitting on concrete blocks.
He then decided to add more cold-formed steel to the insides of each of the support towers. This necessitated a trip to get more cold-formed steel, which we will use for building so it's not a waste.
While he was there, he picked up a couple of bags of masonry cement so that we can make mortar!
He worked all afternoon getting the extra shoring in place and fastened down. He just has a little more to do.
So we decided to end the day by finishing up our Pex cover-up project. We used up the rest of our roll of house wrap - it sure was much easier using one big piece to cover the length!
We still had to use more ICF coverings to finish up, but it's all done! Now there's no worry about the UV damage to the Pex.

On a sad note, as if it wasn't bad enough that the Cavs lost their first finals game to the Warriors in overtime, Kyrie Irving broke his kneecap and will have to have surgery. We won't bring up the Cleveland Curse yet but...
