Good as new!
Time to put the fixed-up bucket to use. Jim decided to start cutting the driveway that will eventually go back to the house. He had to come up with a good arc to give the look we want as well as work with the carriage house location and grading.
Cutting off the topsoil...
What would digging be without some giant rocks that require bringing the excavator around?
Making new piles of topsoil - this will eventually go on the original driveway you see at the front of this picture.
More cutting...
Really starting to take shape!
We had to stop and pick up all the big rocks - and these are just ones that appear from scraping the top layers of dirt off!
Then Jim put the dozer blade on the Bobcat...
Because he can tilt the dozer blade from side to side, he's able to get a really flat surface.
Continuing to work...
Wow - lots of progress for one day! It really looks good.
Then we started using the two piles of dirt that he scraped off to fill in more around the septic system. Again, we had to pull out more rocks!
I stayed down in the hole to get any rocks that fell against the tank when Jim dumped the dirt.
We have to keep building up this area to eventually cover the tank.
More gravel to cover the pipes leading out from the tank.
And a little hand shoveling for good measure.
Then more dirt....
That was all the dirt from Pile #1 - so Jim got the area all cleaned up.
Then it was time for Pile #2!
Looking really good!
Pile #2 is all gone and cleaned up - another good day's work!
