Jim worked on shoring this morning as well as getting things ready for block. All the tops of the brick ledges have to be scraped and cleaned so he got all that done.
After lunch, it was time to get started. We only had a couple blocks to place on the side, so Jim left the mortar box in the Bobcat bucket and worked out of there.
Then he brought the Bobcat to the back of the building and he moved on to the back corner. He had to work on some homemade scaffolding back here!
After he got done with that section, it was time to move again. He brought the Bobcat with the mortar box back up to the top and put the mortar box in the truck's shade to keep the mortar from drying out too quickly.
Then he switched to the forks on the Bobcat and loaded up the pallet of blocks to be moved.
It's an awfully tight fit on the side of the building to maneuver the Bobcat.
Mortar - check; blocks - check. We're ready to get to work on the side of the building!
Jim had to work in kind of precarious spots, especially to get started in this area. Then it was hard on the knees to work kneeling in the dirt so eventually he put his kneepads on.
There are two rows of block on this portion because Jim wants to grade this area a little higher.
Just about got this side finished before we ran out of mortar.
Jim ended up the day doing some lawn mowing - always something to do! It was a good day - 3 sides of block work almost all done!
