6.25.2023

Rain was forecast for the afternoon, but we were hoping that it would hold off so that we could do the final repair work on the package drop box.  Jim got all his tools and equipment together, including the portable generator and air compressor, and we headed down to the bottom of the driveway.

Unfortunately, the first step to repairing it was to take it apart again.  So first the door...

Then the smashed siding...

Then finally the bottom...

Jim had leveled the box before he did the straightening of the frame, so before putting it all back together, he wanted to make sure it was level...

Putting the bottom back in...

I got inside and tested that it's still strong!

Firing up the generator...

He needed air to use his crown stapler to attach the flashing...

Making sure the bottom flashing piece is level before attaching...

He waited to get the exact measurement of the side piece, so now he just trimmed it to the perfect size...

Attaching the side flashing...

Because Jim leveled it again, it caused the door to be a little out of whack, so he had to do some more adjustments.  But he finally got it and it fits better than ever!

Fitting the new siding piece in place...

Jim had copied the hole placement from the smashed piece onto the new piece and got those holes all predrilled - they ended up all fitting perfectly in the previous holes!

Putting the corner flashing on...

All back to the way it was pre-crash!  No more cringing when we pull in the driveway and see the damage.  It still needs a permanent roof, but we'll do that at the same time we do the pavilion roof.

A thank you sticker on the bottom to all our delivery drivers and we called it a day (well, after putting all the tools and equipment away!)

As I write this, our forecasted rain was pushed off to the wee hours of the morning - Camelot!

High 83.7/Low 62.7
