But the rest of the day was pretty much devoted to the Mini. Jim spent time on the phone to the service advisor as well as the Mini towing service about getting the car down to them. Jim had to get the car all ready - he put the Mini battery back in it and then gave it a quick wash. It's about the end of pine pollen season here so there were little polka dots of yellow all over the car.
There is absolutely no place to attach and tow the car but Mini really designed this car well. There is a little access panel in both the front and rear for you to attach a hook for the tow truck.
The tow truck was supposed to be here between 4:00-4:30 - however, they were late. But it was a good towing company - their website said they were trained in towing "exotic" cars like Minis! They were a bit worried at how low the car sat to the ground since it wasn't drivable and they had to winch it up onto the bed...
But they put boards for the car to drive on and it worked out well...
All loaded up!
Jim wanted to follow them down to the dealer to make sure everything went well so we did.
We cut it very short on time - our service rep was leaving at 6:00 and we got there with less than 10 minutes to spare. It was a little dicey getting the Mini off the bed because of how low it sits. Jim and the rep actually stood on either side of the bed to get it a little lower so that they could get the car off without scratching anything. Would they have been as careful if we weren't there?
So now we just wait and see what happens tomorrow!
High 76/Low 49 - beautiful! |
