8.19.2014

Jim worked all morning on the alignment system - putting planks up, making shoring to make sure they are stable.  He even decided to do double planks just to make a bigger work area and have things more secure.  We have to get a couple more pieces of wood to finish but otherwise, we used all our old forms!

In the afternoon, Jim took a break from the alignment system job and we put some more waterproofing membrane up.  We had our first corners to do so those were interesting.

We have the front done over to where the thimbles are for the utilities - that will require some special work.  It looks really good!

Sitting on our newly-waterproofed wall are our brick choices.  Unfortunately there were shadows around when I took this picture, so true colors aren't represented.  The one on the left was our favorite, which is no longer an option because they sold out of their stock.  The one in the middle is the one that the rep brought to us last evening.  It's a uniform charcoal gray color - very nice.  On the right, is the darker brick which was one of the first samples we got.  It's probably the one we will end up with (although the size will be what the other two samples are) because there is a huge price difference.

After the waterproofing, Jim was busy working on the steel for this course.

Things are much more complicated now - not only does he have to work up on the scaffolding, but now he has these long pieces of steel that he has to maneuver over or around the alignment system.

While I was watching Jim work on the steel, I had to include more of the sky in a picture.  It's just such a beautiful blue color most of the time - gorgeous with the dark green pines!

Then Jim started on the fourth course!  This will be the last course before we pour concrete again.  You can really see the brick ledges in this picture.

The birds eye view!
