Jim was back at work on the alignment system today. Now that things are in place, he has to fasten the steel channels to the footer. This requires drilling into the concrete again...
and then using the special tapcon screws to fasten everything down.
Meanwhile, I was cutting the keys off the top of the foam on the brick ledges - didn't quite get them all done so I'll finish that up tomorrow.
Early afternoon, after we took things out and rearranged the back of the box truck, we drove to Lowe's to pick up our windows. The salesman who helped us out and told us we could keep them there of course is no longer with the store. We had told the new guy that we would pick them up in August and they have called a couple times to remind us. So off we went.
Thankfully, they were on two pallets and the guys at Lowe's were able to load both of them side by side in the back of the truck. It was still a little scary ride home knowing that you've got all those glass windows behind you!
Jim was able to use the pallet forks on the Bobcat to get them down from the truck.
I was holding my breath at this point!
Here's the second pallet coming off the truck.
For the time being, we set the pallets on some wood and covered them all up with a giant tarp. We're going to get some treated lumber and make things a little better, but for now, they'll be safe and protected.
