Jim called me when he got to the land this morning and said he wanted to give a little time for the sun to dry out the footers and foam before I worked on waterproofing.  So I stayed home and worked while he....worked on the alignment system!

This alignment system is specific to Nudura and we had to rent all this equipment from them.  They serve a few functions - when they are all installed and the steel channel is fastened to the flanges in the forms, there is a turnbuckle that you can use to make sure the wall is plumb - it's screw-operated so you turn it and it straightens the wall, if necessary.  They help keep everything straight as you build higher.  You can also see an important reason why Jim used the ledger pieces here - the alignment system can sit on the concrete that way.

The turnbuckle also serves as a brace to support the wall.  They will have to be attached to the ground with concrete stakes - we will need about 120 concrete stakes to assemble all of this!  We have over half of that number but we will have to look into possibly renting or buying the rest.

They also serve as scaffolding.  There are arms that attach that will hold planks that Jim will stand on  to build the wall higher - and he will have to stand on them for pouring concrete.

Working away....

After lunch, I got busy on the bottom part of the waterproofing - at this point the front and left side are done.

Amazingly enough, Jim got all the alignment pieces up today!  It looks incredible - really can see the structure take shape.
