Jim got the last little piece of wood attached and screwed down on the last nailer so they are all completed! We got them all wrapped and then Jim put some blue paint marking the center and each side where he wants the straps to go for the crane.
He also got started cutting the ledges to be attached to the outside walls to hold up the sheathing. This is probably about half of what we will need.
Then it was back to work on the strapping. Of course, Jim came up with another way to pull the straps tighter on these corner pieces. It worked really well.
Screwing the strapping down.
Working on the back wall...
For these back corners, Jim has to work off a ladder from down below. Because so much force is needed to screw these together, it's kind of tough doing hanging sideways from a ladder. Once he got to the middle, he was able to stand on the wall and work.
It was almost quitting time and the weather alerts started coming through on the radio and our phones - bad thunderstorms. Most of the weather was south of us but we could hear the thunder. Working on ladders around all this steel is definitely not the place to be during storms. So we got the last brace into place and screwed down at the top and bottom and enough other places to hold it securely. A few more screws tomorrow and all the cross bracing is done! It looks really good from down below!
