5.17.2025

Today is Armed Forces Day - take some time to honor and remember all those who have served or who are currently serving in the military to protect our freedom!

The weather looked kind of iffy this afternoon, but Jim got everything out and set up to start working on sheathing the overhang.  Taking some measurements...

Cutting...

Starting to put it in place...

While Jim was busy with sheathing, I got out the siding drip edge pieces because those are what Jim will use first.  They do a great job protecting the siding during shipment and delivery but that means each piece needs to have this film removed.  I got all the drip edge pieces done and we stored them in the shed until we're ready.

We worked a little bit in some sprinkles, but then it started raining harder so we had to call it a day.  Jim got the first piece of sheathing all attached and the second one cut and ready to go on our next work day.  Now it's time to clean up, go see Mom, and head to church!

Update:  It rained hard while we were in church but it was sunny when we came out.  However, as we got closer to home, there was leaf debris all over the road - we've never seen anything like it...

Piles of hail...

Thick piles of hail!

Lots and lots of hail piles...

The pieces are quite big...

Leaf debris stuck to the house...

The driveway is a mess, so Jim will have work cut out for him...

Our poor trees are decimated...

Look out bare this tree is...

It would have been scary to be at home through all this, but we still have power and everything is good.  We're once again grateful that we put the composite shingles on the roof!
