9.7.2018

It was a very disjointed day for Jim with many interruptions.  But still a successful one at the end of the day.

We've been having some issues with our cable tv - it keeps giving us error codes and locks us out of programming.  I called today but of course they needed someone tech savvy to work through the issues.  So I had to bug Jim to stop what he was doing and come up to work that.  At the end of it all, they couldn't fix it and are sending a technician out.  We got an email later that it won't be until Sunday.

Jim had gone yesterday to the stone/concrete company to update his account.  Then this morning, he called for an order of gravel to be delivered for the main driveway section.  So we went out and Jim pounded stakes as a guide for the driver.

I tied orange flags on top and we were ready to go.

Then Jim went back to work on Shelf B.  It's definitely a challenge having to crawl into the shelves to work on them!

Jim broke for lunch a bit early in case the gravel came after lunch - he had just started to eat when he got the call.  So he had to stop and head down to the bottom of the driveway to wait for the driver and give him instructions.  Just pulling in and getting ready to dump.

Dumping the stone.  It looks really nice and this load went pretty far.

Jim just got back to eating his lunch again, when I had to bug him to come listen to the microwave.  It must not like its new spot any better because when I opened the door to pop a bag of popcorn, it started making a hissing noise.  Jim couldn't figure it out without taking it apart, so we just left it alone.  We'll have to make a decision on what to do about that because I think this one has seen better days.

Jim also spent some time today in negotiations with a machine dealer in Iowa who is selling a 2017 Bobcat snowblower.  That is one of our definite need items before winter and Jim has been searching for one.  This one seems to be in great condition from all the pictures and talking with the rep, so Jim put in a bid.  The guy had to talk to his manager and is supposed to get back with Jim on Monday.  Then it will be a matter of contacting a shipping company to bring it out here.  So...fingers crossed that it all works out!

After finally finishing his lunch, Jim wanted to take my car out for a test drive after doing the front brakes yesterday.  So we took a trip around the block so that he could make sure everything was working properly.

Then he was finally able to get back to work on the shelves, predrilling the plywood.

Standing on the shelves and trying to get the plywood square...

Once all the steel work was done and plywood attached on all the shelves, Jim needed to make sure everything was totally square and straight.  He used his ratcheting strap to pull it into the right position.

Then fastening it in place.

Once he got the cross braces finished on the other side, he was all done!  So he moved it into position and even started putting a few boxes on!

That was a big project that Jim is glad to have finished.  It will make for a much more organized area.
High 75/Low 51 - nice!
