9.15.2018

Jim started his day putting polyurethane on one of the workshop windows.

I ran into town to pick up some diesel fuel for the Bobcat.  Once I got back, Jim was ready to start the next hole.

Moving dirt out of the way...

The right side is all done - just the front is left.  Jim will be able to do all those from the front side.

Every side there seems to be one that gives Jim grief - this is the one!

This is a lot of hard physical work!

Getting ready to start the last hole!

Then we got the surveying equipment out to see how the depth differs between holes and whether or not Jim needs to go deeper or fill with more concrete!  The majority of them were spot on - there were just a couple that were a little too deep because of the difference in grade.

Officially all done with the auger so time to power wash it...

Jim drove the Bobcat down to the box truck to pack it up for return.

Taking off the giant auger.

Putting the attachment back on the pallet...

Loading it back up in the truck.  Jim got it all tied down and ready for its return on Monday morning.

Next we'll need the concrete mixer (AKA The Pumpkin).

We drove the Bobcat up to the top of the hill and loaded up the mortar box.

Next, Jim had to get all our aggregate ready to make concrete.  He brought up a load of gravel.  Unfortunately, the sand pile was behind the winter 4Runner - which wouldn't start.  Jim had to bring the other car down and jump it.

Then he was able to get a scoop of sand.

We got all our buckets ready and Jim marked the proper proportion lines on each.  I had to sift the sand but got our 2 buckets of sand and 3 buckets of gravel filled.

Jim had to do some crumbing out of the front holes to make sure that the post will be in just the right place.

We were thinking we might do our first load of concrete but it was getting late and Jim had put in more than a full day's worth of physical work already.  So he got everything else set - made sure the pumpkin worked well, got it all greased up, and then did some lawn mowing.
High 80/Low 60 - gorgeous!
