Once he got back home, he finalized a materials quote for Curtis Lumber. Some of the items Jim had on his list, Lowe's told him they couldn't get and he would need to go to Curtis. They were able to do the quote while he waited and they have all the items in stock, so that's good. We're going to get one more quote from Home Depot and then Jim will make his buying decision.
Back at work, he wanted to tackle putting on the swing hinges on the bottom stairwell door. These are required by code for fire stop and Jim told the building inspector he would put them on. However, it was a very complicated process. These are commercial hinges and they were bigger than the hinges already on the door. Plus, they are one piece so Jim couldn't do one side at a time as he typically does. Once he got them on, the door didn't shut right - the hinges needed to sit deeper into the door. He had to chisel out the area by hand.
But it's all done and it really works nicely. Once you open the door, it shuts automatically. Eventually, Jim might put the hinges on the control room door also.
