12.16.2021

Mom and I headed into Saratoga this morning - she had an appointment with an ENT doctor for a hearing evaluation and then we did some grocery store pickups.

Jim had been hard at work while we were gone - he planed and sized shelves for the bathroom cabinet...

Another shelf.  He's basically out of pine now but with the car out of commission, that will have to wait.

Check out my amazing pantry shelves!  Love the way it all looks!  Jim has some more adjustable shelf clips that will come in tomorrow; I'll wait he gets those put in plus it will give the paint another day to harden before I load it up!

Jim has been trying desperately to get my car in to our local shop for its annual inspection.  They have been out of state stickers for the last month!  It's apparently a state issue so even though my car was out of compliance, we didn't worry too much plus we're not driving much.  But they finally came in and he was able to take it for inspection this afternoon.  It passed with flying colors so that's done for another year.

It was a warm day today for December so Jim was taking care of some generator maintenance today, filling up the battery...

Then he put his welding hat on and made this coupler to use when pressing the bearing...

This coupler will protect the spline so that the press doesn't contact it directly and it will also keep the press and the spline aligned...

This is how it will look going onto the press.  You can also see that he has the steel rods/bolts attached to the bearing splitter.

He ordered a new press - his was a bit too small to get the whole axle in - we just got a call that it will be delivered tomorrow, so that's good news in this time of supply chain issues!
