Jim hadn't even started his work day yet when we heard a beeping noise of a truck backing up. Jim headed down (with Mom and I following along!) - it was the trucking company that was supposed to deliver his new press on Friday. No phone call, no heads up. Jim hadn't plowed the driveway yet but this guy apparently had no trouble getting up the driveway in this big truck!
But because nothing is easy, the box was open and parts and pieces all over the pallet...
The driver called in a damage report and gave us a number to use in case there were any parts missing/damaged. The driver was great and wheeled the press pieces into the auto bay.
Jim opened it up to check it out and of course there was a part missing - the spreader that goes between the two bottom legs of the frame. So I started making calls - the shipping company was no help because we didn't pay them for shipping so I had to call the company Jim ordered from. Thankfully, I got a wonderful sales rep who is going to contact the manufacturer to have them ship us the missing piece, plus they gave us a small refund as compensation. Yay! After modifying his press, Jim is planning on making his own spreader that will give him a couple more inches headroom. So after all that, a win all the way around.
After pressing, he put some grease on it so he could see exactly where the seal hit - and it was perfect!
Then he took off the driver's side rear axle from the car again. This picture shows the difference between the correct placement on the left and the one on the right that was pressed too far down...
Now the tool that Jim had bought would fit underneath perfectly, although that's a moot point right now!
We had gotten 4" of snow on Saturday night and the sun had taken some of that away; however, he plowed the driveway to get as much off as possible to keep the driveway in good shape - and he especially had to do the bottom of the driveway where the street plows come through...
What an incredible sunset! This is taken through the window in Mom's room - it was just breathtaking!
