6.30.2025

After computer work and some shop time this morning, we headed outside after lunch.  Jim tweaked this last piece and then got it fastened in place...

Up in place and a perfect fit!

Putting it in place...

In preparation for working on the corners, Jim stapled the ends of the sides in a few places...

The back is done now, so scaffolding can come down!

Putting in a few screws at the bottom - this side looks fabulous!  I told Jim it really looks big now that the scaffolding is gone.

Corner siding is next - I took off all this pretty blue film coating...

Then Jim marked the cut line...

Putting it up for a test fit...

It fit perfect first time and makes such a nice finished look.  Jim took it down and punched fastener positions.  Tomorrow he'll pre-drill and get it up - if it doesn't rain.

This afternoon, Jim headed outside to the shed to work on the rest of the siding in the back.  Doing some measuring...

Marking the angle...

Unfortunately, these angle cuts have to be cut by hand using the shears...

Jim cut the last piece and got it up in place.  It's all looking great!

Jim got things cleaned up so that he could do some grass cutting to finish out the day.

6.28.2025

Saturday's are our short days.  Jim did more computer work and helping me this morning, then we transitioned to moving our stored stuff around.  This tv cabinet was one of the first furniture projects Jim made when we got married, but of course they are really useful any longer and it has damage from being stored in the barn when we first got here.  Someday Jim will get it spiffed back up and we will repurpose it.  But for now, it's going to be another storage unit in our shop attic.

Getting ready to load it onto the Bobcat...

Moving it into the shop...

Then it was back down to get the kids' old bookshelves - moving the first one out....

Moving it into the shop...

Jim brought the other bookshelf up too.  He is going to do a little shoring up on these and then we'll be able to load them up.

But then it was time to get the Bobcat tucked away and get ready to go see Mom and go to church.

6.27.2025

Jim spent the morning on some computer work, including making some diagrams I need for a fire school test.

Then he headed to the auto bay to finish up my car.  He got it all back together and we loaded it up with a bunch of stuff to donate, take to the resell place in town, and even dropped off some food donations to the drop off box.  Although the 4Runner is fun to drive too, I had missed my car and am so glad to have it back!  Although the new tie rods were delivered today so Jim is still planning more work.

But he had to spend some time doing clean up after all the car work...

We have used these bookshelves since the kids were toddlers and have moved them more times than we could count.  This one was basically rotten, so Jim took it apart and is going to cut up the big pieces and put them in the trash.  We have two others that we are going to put up in the shop grattic storage space.

As I was leaving to go drop off all that stuff, Jim noticed that a brake light was out, so he took the light apart and replaced that...

Jim loaded up his 4Runner and we moved a bunch of boxes into the grattic space - some to go through, some just to store.  This is not an easy task!

Jim continued car work today - he was able to get both stabilizer bars on and is putting things back together...

Some before and after bolts...

Continuing to put things back together...

You can see all the new parts here...

Jim got more new parts today - tie rods - so he'll be continuing to work on things!

6.24.2025

Another warm day - Jim decided to do car work this afternoon, although he did spend more time sorting boxes.  He ordered bolts that won't be in until Thursday or Friday, but wanted to see if he could get the suspension arms in place.  But nothing is easy...

Trying to get the axle in the right position...

After lots of struggles, Jim basically has the suspension arms on both sides in place!

At that point, he decided to call it a day and do a little grass cutting.

6.23.2025

The hot weather hit our area today.  We typically don't see these temperatures, but it didn't keep us from working!

Jim did more car work and cleaning up this morning, while I was able to use the 4Runner to go see Mom and stop at the store.  He has parts on order.  Unfortunately, parts are getting harder and harder to get for this car since they no longer make Suzukis in the US.

After lunch, it was back working on the shed.  Putting a few more screws in the soffit...

Jim next wanted to make some flashing that would cover the end of the soffit and go underneath both the J- and Z-flashings...

Getting ready to put in place...

A close up look - perfection!
