Yesterday, Jim did tax work in the morning and then he was back in the shop getting ready to start gluing pieces for the door...

But there wasn't much time, as we left to go visit Mom and then headed to church for Ash Wednesday services.  The driveway was treacherous on the way down so we knew we would be in trouble coming home.  And we were.  These pictures were taken this morning after rain and warmer temperatures helped expose gravel.  But last night, the driveway was thick, solid ice and we only made it up this far...

Jim got out of the car through the passenger side because the car had slid against the side and the driver's side wouldn't open.  But there was no way you could stand for even a second on the ice - he went to help me get out and ended up sliding halfway down the driveway!  It was terrible to watch him slide!  We both finally got out onto the side but it was a tough trek up the driveway - you can see our tracks.  It was up to our knees, icy on top and it would break through as you stepped.  Whew - we were glad to get inside!

The driveway was like this because of the snowfall we got the day we left for Boston, and then the terrible ice storm and rain that weekend.  Jim never got to clear anything properly, and once we had warmer temps and rain this week, it was a huge mess.  But Jim was able to walk down today.  This was his view once he got into the car - you can see how far down we were.  With gravel exposed, it's definitely passable now.

In the shop today, Jim was back working on door pieces.  Planing...

Getting ready to glue the other rail on...

Making sure everything is aligned perfectly before final clamping...

Gluing the top rail on...

He glued two pieces of thick stock pieces together to use for the small panels.  Then he started to resaw them in half...

Two bottom panel pieces...
