Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of my surgery and our wonderful news that the tumor was benign! We decided that it was a worthy occasion to celebrate, so in the afternoon we went and visited my mom, went to Home Depot, and then went to The Local. It was a great evening and it was a big reminder of just how blessed we are!
Jim has continued to work on coming up with crown molding ideas for the kitchen...
Our barn door hardware came in and it looks amazing! While we were at Home Depot, we bought a nice handle for the door.
However, we scoured the blog looking for pictures of the inside of this wall, hoping that there was blocking there that Jim could use to attach the rail. Unfortunately, this is one of those times that we didn't know exactly what we were going to do downstream, so Jim doesn't have the necessary blocking. Doing some measurements...
In lieu of cutting the drywall to put blocking in, Jim is considering making a backing board that would attach to the wall that he could use to attach the rail. We were just discussing possibilities with this sample board. We think it will work fine and figure it's definitely worth a try before cutting into the wall and having to make all those repairs.
Using the jointer to start making the board...
