We think this was going on in the wee hours this morning - we heard dogs, coyotes, and skunk smells. Two dogs even tripped the security camera by the auto bay. No bears lately though so that's good!
Jim did a little prep work this morning and after lunch we headed outside. We did some basic markings of the house footprint and which way we want it oriented. We kept two stakes in the back marked with tape; the front ones Jim pounded into the ground so he wouldn't keep hitting them. We can use the metal detector later to find them. We want the garage to be underneath the house, so Jim needed a general idea of driveway location to ensure he is digging in the right place!
We did some general elevation measurements with the laser level as well so Jim knows how much deeper he'll need to eventually go.
We had to do some site clean up so that Jim can expand our dirt piles. He went and put the forks on the Bobcat and then moved some of our old pallets in an area - they're beyond useable so he'll break them up and get rid of the wood.
He picked up this pallet of steel pieces and the pallet collapsed. But he got it moved...
Moving our pile of decking pieces...
Once everything was cleaned up, he was able to drive around the backside of the dirt pile and dump there...
Loading rocks into the Bobcat to move to our pile...
At the end of the day, he had to clean up from all the work and then do some grass cutting.
