Jim picked back up with the Bobcat lift cylinder job today - and he got the first cylinder out!

The old cylinder...

These are the removed pins - Jim is happy that they are in good shape and won't need to be replaced...

It was another challenge getting the new cylinder back in.  Each of these cylinders is probably over 60 pounds.  Once he got it to this point (picture below), he needed two hands to lift the cylinder up and into the right position and another to put the pin in.  I was able to be that pair of hands and Jim got it into position.

The bottom was tough as well, mostly because everything is hard to access.  But Jim got both pins in place.

Then it was onto the other side.  He had more trouble getting the top pin out, but he got it.  Not a great picture, but you can see how greasy this bottom area is ...

The other cylinder is now out!

Jim is hoping he can clean these up and sell them.  They are still in good shape, but the new ones are cushioned, so that when the boom is lowered, it drops fast, and then automatically slows it down so that it doesn't fall onto the frame.  Jim learned how to avoid that, but the frame was beat up where the other owners weren't as cautious.  It's just one more thing he won't have to worry about when operating the machine.

Another day of great progress!
