Jim has spent a lot of time trying to get the steel ordered for the railings.  He likes to get steel from Albany Steel - they deliver very quickly and charge only $12.  However, the first quote Jim submitted was much higher than he was expecting.  He redid his quote request multiple times.  He eventually had to work with both Albany Steel and the steelyard closer to us that we have used before.  It was a lot of work but he saved us quite a bit of money.  Albany Steel delivers very early in the morning.  If you remember, the last time they delivered they came early and dropped the steel over our chain at the bottom of the driveway, breaking the post.  As much as Jim hated it, he left the chain off last night and told them to drop it along the side of the driveway.  It worked out fine as you can see...

Then Jim had to just load it up in the truck and drive it up the hill...

He already started using some of the steel - he made the top newel post for the lower staircase...

More big furnace news - Jim opened up another system so that we now have water running through all the Pex in the floor of the woodshop!

Jim ordered these new PVC clamps to use on the air intake venting - he put up one on the pipe coming out of the furnace...

He also put up another smoke detector in the top of the stairwell...

He ordered a stainless steel toilet flange for the upstairs bathroom so he'll be ready for that before too long!  You can also see that he got a corner piece for heating vents that he just set in place to see how it will work.

Our pink laundry room looks really nice now that the paint is all dried.  This afternoon, Jim started painting the last wall with our Pebble Gray.

Rolling on the paint...

Once that was done, Jim wanted to put a second coat on the other side of the hallway and on sloped ceilings in the kitchen.  Pebble Gray is officially all painted now!
