11.19.2025

We headed back outside this afternoon to do a little more rock wall work.  First, Jim brought up the Bobcat with the bucket on and did a little clean up from our work yesterday...

Jim unearthed more rocks that I scooped up and put on the wall...

Already looks better...

Jim went on the back side of the wall picking up some of the rocks that had been pushed over and added them to the wall...

He brought the excavator over to bring the bigger rocks on the backside of the wall over to the wall area...

Taking this old stump out...

Taking more of the trees that are along the way out...

Grabbing more trees...

The trees are gone - grabbing a big rock...

Putting it on the wall...

Using the Bobcat to unearth a couple big rocks...

Gathering them into the bucket...

Jim picked up some other rocks that we had set aside and dropped them near the upper part of the wall...

More cleanup...

Looking fabulous!

Using the excavator to place the rocks on the upper section...

Last one for the day...

11.18.2025

It was quite blustery yesterday, with chilly temperatures and brisk winds, so Jim stayed inside and worked in the shop.  It was not quite as windy today, so in the afternoon, we ventured out to do a little rock wall work.

Jim brought the excavator over and started scraping back the dirt to expose all the rocks.

Before we bought the property and they did some timbering, they just plowed through the existing rock wall and spread it all over.  So we're trying to get it back in line...

Moving down the wall...

This is the view from the end of the wall in this area looking back up - you can see how the rocks are just all over the place...

Moving rocks...

Bringing up rocks from beyond the wall...

Wow - that's a big one!

Jim will bring the Bobcat down and pretty up the edges, but it's starting to take better shape...

You can see all the little scrub trees growing up in the wall area - those have to go, so this counts as the before picture!

It's so easy for Jim to pull the trees out and then later cut the roots off.  Plus, then there's no growing back.

Pulling out more trees...

Already looks better, but it was getting chilly and this was our stopping point for the day.

11.16.2025

Thank you to everyone who called, sent messages or cards for my birthday last week!  I appreciate all of you!  Jim and I had errands to do near Albany on Thursday and finished the night with dinner at The Local.  I made triple chocolate cake and we got chocolate caramel ice cream, so we've been binging on that!

Jim has continued to go through paperwork - he has a couple boxes all organized and ready to go out into the shed attic.

He started prepping the last curtain to put up around our stored belongs in the corner...

Starting to hang it up...

On Saturday before church, we got a little mini cake to celebrate with Mom.  I meant to take a picture but things were a little hectic there so I forgot!

Today, Jim went back to work on the curtain.  He has lots of things to go around, so it's not an easy task...

Looks fabulous and it really will keep all the shop dust out of this area.

This corner has velcro closures...

Jim put a strip of velcro on the side to hold the curtain back if you're moving things in/out...

Jim wanted to start the excavator and let it run for a bit to keep the battery going.  It started right up.  We're hoping the weather holds out a bit longer so that we can do a little more outside work.

I never got a chance to see some of the trees Jim cut down last week but it made the woods seem so much cleaner.  Hopefully we'll get time to do some chipping soon too!

11.12.2025

Another day of snow flurries.  Jim spent time working on the computer in the morning, and switched over to more organizing in the afternoon.  He also took apart our kerosene heater and got it all cleaned up and ready for winter...

Happy Veteran's Day to all those who served in the military, keeping our country and its citizens safe, especially those near and dear to my heart - Jim (Air Force), my dad (Air Force), and Jim's dad (Merchant Marines).

We didn't get a lot of snow, but it was enough to coat everything in white, and the cold temperatures and continued flurries kept it white all day.

Jim continued to do clean up work, going through tons of paperwork.

I'm not sure if it was really happy that we had our first snowflakes this evening - it rained all day.  We were hoping to get another week of MINI weather, but it may not happen.  This was our view this evening outside.  Our Ohio friends sent pictures of accumulated snow, so we're happy to just have our flurries for the moment.

A rainy day, so another inside day.  After getting my car aligned last week, Jim spent this afternoon putting my winter tires on and storing the summer tires until next year.  I'll be all set for winter weather now!
