It was another chilly day today and we had plans this evening so he didn't have lots of time but still got things done.
Today he was doing more driveway work and really has the area where the storage barn will go built up and flattened out. You can really see his plan coming together now for the driveway back to the carriage house.
On the agenda today was stump removal. If you look closely at this picture, there are at least 5 big stumps that are in the area where the carriage house will go so they need to go! I didn't stay long because there wasn't much for me to do so this is definitely the before picture.
On my way down the driveway, I had to stop and take this picture. Jim did a little more grading and now you can really see the other rock wall that used to go across the driveway area. We eventually want to get this wall cleaned up and rebuilt. It continues on into the woods on the other side of the driveway obviously.
Tonight we went into Saratoga Springs - our plan was to go to a movie at the new cinema downtown, then go to dinner. We got downtown early, went and bought our tickets and then walked around for a little while before the movie started. I really like the downtown area - so many fun stores, restaurants, shops - you could spend a long time trying them all out! We stopped into Kirwin's Chocolate Café (how could I resist that?) - and bought a couple treats for the movie. It's a pretty deadly store - the smell when you walked in was incredible! The people at school had bought me a couple incredibly generous gift cards to a downtown restaurant where we plan to go for our anniversary next month and also a neat home accent store. We walked in there to see what was interesting. We found a great slate chalkboard menu board that I want - but I didn't want to carry it around so I'll go back next week for that. The new cinema downtown is really nice - it just opened a few weeks ago but it's beautiful inside. Each theater has these incredibly comfortable leather rocking chairs. We saw 12 Years A Slave - what an incredibly gut-wrenching movie but so well done. It's a true story about a free black man who was kidnapped from Saratoga and sold into slavery for 12 years. Such brutality is hard to fathom and incredible that humans can treat each other like that. After the movie was done, we were pretty shell-shocked and it was late, so we just went to Pope's Pizza on the way home. A great birthday!
