Happy first day of Spring!  Even after our 70° day yesterday, we still have snow on the property, which is fine by us.  The temperatures are settling back down into more normal temperatures, but it did feel like a hint of spring yesterday for sure.

Jim bought a new power strip/surge protector for the TV to replace an old one, so he started preparing for that this morning...

All attached to the back of the cabinet - looks great!

More sanding on the door...

Starting to paint the back side...

Painting...

All done and drying!  This gun works great but after just a few minutes painting time, it takes him well over an hour to clean out the gun.

The driveway was a bit soft after all the snow and ice went away but the ground was still frozen underneath.  It's firmed up now, so Jim went out at the end of the day and used the bucket on the Bobcat to smooth out any ruts.

Jim did more sanding and then cleaned off the door...

Doing the trim work with the primer...

Starting to roll on the primer...

Both sides primed now...

It was such a nice day out that Jim got the power sprayer out - it started right up!

Blowing some matted leaves off...

The snow blower got a lot of use this winter, so Jim is getting it all cleaned up...

Greasing the snow blower...

My car even got a cleaning!

3.18.2025

Jim continued to do sanding on the door today...

It was ready to start priming...

Drying...

This was the first day that we walked up to check out how the shed survived the winter - and it looks great!  Still amazed that there was no standing water or muddy spots when this area was covered with snow a week ago.

Jim has had these shed fascia pieces marked and ready to go, lying on the shop floor all winter.  Time to take them out...

Carrying the first one up to the pavilion...

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!  We've always celebrated "Green Day" and have lots of good memories from years past.

I had a meeting with mom's care team today and visited with her afterwards, before leaving to do a few errands.

Jim got busy doing all the hand sanding work on the door...

Then later in the afternoon, we went and visited with Mom again before heading to The Local for corned beef and cabbage!

3.16.2025

Saturday's seem to go by in a blur, since we leave for church early and stop to see my mom.  So I never got to the blog yesterday.

Jim got the new Ring set up on the man door in the auto bay - hopefully no more getting locked out!  Plus, every once in a while a new delivery person will appear here instead of at the stairwell door, so it will help then as well.

In the shop, Jim sanded the other top panel...

A trial fit...

Gluing these pieces together takes concentration and time to make sure everything fits perfectly, so Jim waited until today to get started.  Before...

After!  All glued and drying!

Jim sold his other car diagnostic tool and bought a better one - he was showing it to me today...

3.14.2025

Jim did all the cleaning and polishing of the Corian this morning.  It's another process and makes lots of mess as well!

But the end result is worth it because it looks gorgeous with the new upper cabinet in the laundry room!

He did some sanding on the door panels and tested out the fit...

Getting ready to glue the next step was a procedure - he had to put together his clamps to make one really large one!

It went together well so it's just drying now...

After Jim got locked out of the man door when there was 2 feet of snow on the ground recently, he decided to get a battery operated Ring doorbell for this area.  Just trying out placement...

3.13.2025

Jim sanded and then put a coat of paint on the other side of the upper door panels today...

Starting the edge routing on the Corian.  This has to be done in very small increments, plus this piece has small edges that Jim has to ensure he doesn't cut too deep or it would be ruined...

Top section done and readjusting...

First trial fit - looks amazing!

Jim rounded over the side edges - now all that's left before installation is cleaning it up and polishing.  I'm very excited!
