 Jim did final sanding on all of the new cabinet drawer fronts this morning...

All sanded!

He brought one up just to be sure he knew which way we wanted it to open...

Then he set up the ShopSmith and drilled all the holes for the hinge hardware...

It was a nice day so we decided to see if we could get some of our piles chipped.  That required Jim getting the Bobcat out, putting the bucket on for the first time since last fall, moving the Tiger Cub, then moving the chipper out of the pole barn.  He put the battery back in it and greased it.  Then he moved it up to our first section on the hill - it worked great and we got through that area pretty quickly.

Then he moved it down to our giant pile near the pole barn and we got busy on all that...

There were some big trees to chip!

We got quite a bit done but had to stop to get cleaned up.  We got tickets online and are heading out to our first in-person Mass since last March!  We also need to stop at Home Depot first.

Jim worked on the other two cabinet door assemblies - first sanding...

Then gluing...

Last two are in the gluing phase...

Before lunch, Jim did a little work in the metal shop - he was grinding a screw he's going to use to add a parts holder to the welding cart...

The framework that attaches to the Bobcat fork frame is now done!

Then Jim was back at work on cutting tile pieces...

Jim marks each piece with a grid number so that he can recreate it.  That way he can remove the pieces so that we have walking room...

Jim started off the morning lightly sanding the cabinet door panels...

The he started gluing the door fronts together...

Three doors in the gluing process...

We needed a door stop for the bathroom door in the wood shop so that the handle didn't crash into the wall!  But it's always tricky drilling through porcelain.  Jim has a diamond bit just for this purpose so he first drilled through the tile and then had to get his concrete hammer out to drill through the concrete...

All done - looks and works great!

Mid-afternoon, Jim headed to the metal shop.  Cutting some small pieces on the metal bandsaw...

Jim is making an adaptor to fit on the Bobcat fork frame that he will use to help lift the car lift pieces - showing me how the pieces will fit...

Then he welded them onto the steel...

Then this piece is able to connect right to the frame...

He will then use these steel pieces to connect to the bottom piece.  Jim did some more welding after this so more pictures to come tomorrow!

I had to leave early this morning for a physical and then I ran errands out in the Glens Falls area.  It's also a very pretty area with views of the Vermont mountains.

When I got home, Jim had the new tile saw all set up outside and was cutting tile!

We love this tile - it's going to be perfect in these areas!

Jim also put a light coat of gray paint on the cabinet door panels this morning...

After it dried, he was able to turn the pieces over and do the back side...

Then he went down into the metal shop and welded the casters on the welding cart... 

He brought the engine hoist over and got it connected to the top of the welder...

Then carefully set it down onto the cart...

All done - now this welder is able to be easily moved around...

Jim and I are probably the only ones who don't feel like Lucy with this latest round of spring snow!  Even my mom got 2-3" in southern Ohio.  Our snow started mid-afternoon and is still coming down as I write this.  With highs only in the 30s today and tomorrow, it definitely feels more like winter than spring.

 It was a day cut short on both ends but Jim still got lots done.  This morning, Jim and I both had dentist appointments.  Mine was in the morning but Jim's got rescheduled until 11:00 - kind of the worst time.  By the time he got home, it was lunch time.

But he had started putting together his new tile saw this morning...

He also started getting ready to attach the wheels to the bottom of his welding cart...

Mid-afternoon we headed outside - we really wanted to finish cleaning up behind the pole barn.  There were so many big, thick briar bushes in this area that required careful cutting!  Then we chop them into smaller pieces so that they lay flat on the ground.

Wow - what a difference!

The view from the other side.  There are a lot of little pine trees in this area - hopefully now they'll be able to grow.

After putting tools away, we then headed into Home Depot.  Jim wanted to get a bag of thin set to use for the tile.  We also got a bag of grout - pewter gray.
