Happy Independence Day!  Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday celebrating our country.  

We were back outside this afternoon doing more trim work on the shed.  Jim's first challenge was to do the rest of the fascia on the overhang.  He needed to bend the end of the flashing up a little in order for it to fit underneath the drip edge of the roof.  He tried his hemming tools...

But then decided to try the brake, which worked out well...

That job done, time to build the scaffolding up another section so that Jim will be able to reach the peak...

We got it up in place and Jim started fastening...

Then we got the next piece cut and pre-drilled and up into place...

We had some rain this morning but the afternoon was beautiful.  Back out to the shed to figure out some of this custom trim work.  First job was to do the side fascia on the overhang - lots of cuts and bends...

Jim has pretty much decided to use the same vinyl soffit that he used on the pole barn, so he tried out a piece to make sure the spacing would work...

Next was J-channel underneath the overhang...

And along the side of the opening...

For the top J-channel, Jim had to make really custom cuts to connect with the side pieces...

Everything is tacked into place.  Jim went back and put nails in to fasten them.

Jim has continued to do some fire school question work in the morning as well as working on our storage areas.  Then in the afternoon, we headed out to the shed.  The front is going to require a lot more custom work - lots to go around and no big pieces like in the back.  Jim's working on the bottom ledger...

Jim's trying to figure out how to do the fascia for the overhang and make all that work together.  We scoured our extra pieces in the lean to - he found what he likes, but he'll have to do a lot of custom bending to make it work.  

I went and got the gas cans filled up and then Jim did some grass cutting to end the day.

Happy July - time keeps flying by.  Jim worked this morning on our storage area - he got the first bookshelf shored up and in place to start holding boxes...

He had to restaple the back panel...

Then added support blocks to the bottom to stabilize and keep everything squared...

The forecast was for showers so we weren't sure how much we would be able to get done outside, but we headed out in the afternoon.  Jim got the fasteners put in the first corner trim...

Moving to the other back corner, Jim got the siding stapled at the corner...

After we got the coating off, Jim measured and cut the other back corner trim...

The back is all done and looks amazing!

The front is going to be difficult, with the overhang making it harder.  First trim to go up is the trim around the garage door.  Jim got it measured and cut...

Then bent the top so it would fit around the corner...

We started hearing some rumbles in the air, so we got things cleaned up.  The first raindrops hit as Jim was pulling the 4Runner back in the garage.  Nice that we got to work before the showers!
