1.6.2016 - Last Shop Window In!

Another chilly morning - about 5 degrees when I woke up.  After spending a little time at his desk, he went to the cold-formed steel place to pick up some strapping and screws that he had ordered.  He came home for lunch and then we headed out to Angel.

The goal for today was the last remaining shop window.  This is one of the 3 windows in the woodworking shop that Lowe's ordered the wrong size window.  Thankfully, Jim came up with a plan to rebuild the frame but it still takes a lot of time and effort to do each one.

First step is cutting the sheathing off the outside...

Taking off the existing top window frame.

Then he has to use the grinder to cut 4" off each of the steel pieces - all without ruining the sheathing or side pieces.

Fitting the top of the window frame into the newly-shortened frame.

Finally, we can work on installing the window.  Flashing is first - with the cold temperatures, Jim has to use his heat gun to make things stick better.

Unwrapping the window...

We got it in and Jim is starting to fasten it down.

After all the fastening, there is a lot more flashing that goes on the outside to keep water out.  But we're thrilled - all of the shop windows are now installed!
