9.5.2019

I was remiss in not including a Rat Sorb update in yesterday's blog, since we took a road trip in the 4Runner that previously reeked of dead mouse.  After all the cleaning Jim did, our final attempt at ridding the car of the smell was to buy Rat Sorb.  When it came in the mail, I was shocked at the small size - it was basically just a tiny essential oil size bottle.  But I followed the directions and put soaked cotton pads in the areas where the smell was the worse and also diluted some and sprayed the insulation (that hasn't gone back in the car yet).  But our trip was pleasantly lemon scented and not disgusting mouse scented.

On to the day's events...

Jim worked this morning on putting together all of the inner frames for the 3 wood shop windows...

He had lots of prep work to do before installing the hip shingles - he had to remark his lines and then pre-drill holes in all the shingles.

Making good progress...

One side done and on to the next side... (and no, that sky isn't photoshopped - it just looks like it!)

With both sides done and looking great, Jim spent probably an hour taking off the zip tape and covering over the peak of the roof.  Some of this has been on for a long time.

The hard part now is figuring out how to do the very peek of the stairwell roof and make sure it's waterproof.  This is the way it looked once Jim uncovered everything.  He's tried a few options to see how best to proceed - he'll work on it more tomorrow.

While Jim was working on the roof, I got the new trim boards all painted...

High 70/Low 47 - gorgeous!
