Crazy that it is September and Labor Day weekend - not sure how that happened.  But I told Jim that it smelled like fall outside!

Jim went back to work on putting shingles up on the back of the stairwell area...

However, it was definitely tedious - all but two shingles needed to be cut for this area!  Which also required putting primer on and letting them dry a bit...

Putting shingles up...

Lots of primer work...

Which means lots of shingles drying...

 Starting on the last row...

Putting up the last shingle!

Shingles are all done back here!!  Just need the top freeze board which is on order.

So the last remaining part of the carriage house that needs shingled is underneath the wood shop windows.  Jim's doing some measuring...

Cutting some pieces...

Since these are small, they all need to be pre-drilled...

And of course primed!

Jim was able to put a few up...

Looking good!

There wasn't anything else to do with the shingles because they needed to dry, so Jim got out the upper track piece of the garage door to continue that work.  He'll have to design and make a bracket to hold the end of the track in place.

At this point, it was late in the day and we figured we'd take a few minutes and use the metal detector.  Jim is bound and determined to find an old coin!  As we were walking down the driveway, the detector started going crazy, so he decided to investigate.

He kept digging and digging and the metal detector was still signaling that there was something big here.

Jim eventually went down at least 18" - he found an old piece of metal siding but it was big and wouldn't come out.  So we filled the hole back in and moved on.

But we did find a coin!  Alas, it was a 1995 penny but we still found it underground!

High 71/Low 57 - nice!
