Today had some frustrations before Jim ever headed out to work.

We had an ice storm last night, although it didn't appear as bad as predicted.  But it did knock out our power for an hour or so late in the evening.

Jim had to fast last night and this morning headed to get his blood work done - they took 5 tubes!  He definitely needed to fill up with coffee and muffins after that!

After our episode with Time Warner cable last week, Jim bought a new modem and called to get it installed today.  That went okay - although anything with Time Warner takes awhile and has its own frustrations.  We thought everything was good - except the home phone doesn't work again and now there are network issues so my printers don't work.  I hate when things like this happen because they are the last things that Jim needs to worry about - even though he always fixes my computer issues!

On a happier note, things went well for Jim today.  I had to run into Staples to pick up some flyers so I stopped at the property to check things out.

Jim had been working on getting wire to the fan boxes - he now has the power run for the fan in the master bedroom too.

We talked through some light/fan switch options in the rooms as well as outlet placement in the kitchen.  Jim already has installed a few boxes!

But he spent lots more time in the second bedroom closet today.  In order to eventually be able to hang drywall here, everything has to be on the same plane - so the rafters as well as the valley rafter.  Obviously the valley rafter is at a different angle - Jim had to figure out where everything needed to end up and then made these wood pieces to bring everything out to the right position.  He then was able to attach a piece of angle to both side studs.

The end result...he has angle pieces going up the side too - it's basically ready for insulation and drywall!  But he's thrilled to have this figured out - getting the right air flow for insulation is critical and requires lots of mental exercises to decide on the best way.

Once that closet was done, it was time to move to the other end of the apartment and work in the laundry room - basically doing the same thing.  He had to figure out placement so that the insulation/ventilation works, and then get the floor ready for the wood base plate.  He got the plate down (picture to come!) and the track cut.
