2.14.2017

Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day!

Jim spent the morning going to the electric supply company for bigger conduit and then to the drywall center to talk to his contact about insulation.  In fact, he picked up the first bag and some adhesive to see how it works with the steel.  If it works, Jim will get a quote and get it all ordered!

When Jim got to the property after lunch, it was back to electric work.  Today's job was to work on making provisions to get the electric into the kitchen.  First step was to figure out exactly where Jim wanted the conduit to come up into the kitchen wall.  He had to start that process down in the wood shop - figuring out how the conduit would run from the breaker box and exactly where it needed to end up.  He drilled a pilot hole from below to make sure that it came up at the right place.  Then he started drilling...

The hole is cut out through the steel and all the subflooring...

Next was the conduit piece...

The conduit coming through the ceiling of the wood shop...

Next Jim had to drill holes through all of the studs in the utility room (especially tough through the corner because of all the pieces there).

Then he ran the conduit all the way through.  Everything is glued except the pull elbow box - Jim needs me to stand on the top part while he glues it down to make sure he gets a good fit, so that's on the agenda for tomorrow.

Jim was able to put the conduit through and put a box adaptor at the end.  So you can see to the far right where the electric wires goes up into the apartment - now the kitchen wiring will go the other way.

We had figured out where we wanted the stove but in order for Jim to put the receptacle in, he needed to modify the flanges on the track at that point.

He made and mounted a backing plate and then attached the receptacle.
