12.10.2015

We had some rain in the wee hours of the morning, so Jim headed out to the roofing company to give things a chance to dry out.  He picked up another roll of water and ice protection membrane and also set up delivery for our roofing materials - they'll come next week!

I headed the opposite direction into Saratoga Springs to pick up an order from Home Depot for some window flashing and to get a roll of 3' wide house wrap.

Once we got to the site, we were thrilled to see that the only water on the deck came from the hole at the top where the last piece of sheathing will go and drips from in between the sheathing on the side where there is no underlayment.  Sure is exciting to see it getting  safe from the elements!

We continue to be blessed with good weather so once the roof was dry, Jim got busy putting the plywood on the outside wall connecting the shed dormer to the main roof.

Putting on the strapping...

Cutting the next piece - all of these pieces have crazy angles.

Now the fun begins...since everything is pretty much enclosed, getting the plywood out is now really tough!  This piece Jim was able to stabilize on the scaffolding...

...squeeze out between the studs and start to drag it out.

Pulling it all the way out - it was a really tight fit!  Plus Jim is having to maneuver the plywood while standing on the steep roof!

Whew!  All in place!

After that piece is all fastened down, the strapping is next.

Jim now has to crawl in and out of a really tiny hole in between two studs!

Jim had to find his roof jacks and attach them so he could stand a little taller and reach the top corner of this sheet of plywood.

Figuring out the next angle...good thing Jim is so smart!

Cutting the next piece...

I handed this piece of sheathing to Jim out the little window.  The scaffolding tower on this side isn't as tall as we built on the other side, so Jim had to really reach to get the sheathing from me.  But it was much easier than dragging it on top of the roof.

Which is what he had to do for the last piece.  He cut it inside, then scaled the roof using his mountain climbing rope...

...paused at the top to look around...

...and then scaled down the other side of the roof!

He got down to the scaffolding and I handed him the last piece of strapping and sheathing...it's all in place!

It was really getting dark when we got down so pictures don't turn out well but the wall is done and looks fabulous!
