9.3.2014

As it happens in Camelot, after our beautiful day yesterday that was supposed to be rainy, it rained in the evening and overnight but the day dawned gorgeous and stayed that way.

So it was back to work.  Even with all the accomplishments of yesterday, there was still lots to be done.  At this point, Jim is going around looking at everything and finishing up all the shoring and multitudes of things that still remain to be done.

For example, he put horizontal bracing on all of the bulkheads.

Then the brick ledges needed more attention - if you look closely, he added steel to the sides as well as more horizontally to connect everything together.  Then he had to put more brick ties in place for the future work.

In the afternoon, we spent a little time putting some dimple board on the front area.  One side is plastic with all these little dimples in - that goes on the outside to protect the waterproofing membrane.  The other side of this is a tough woven fabric which lies against the membrane.

This board just needs to be screwed in a couple spots to hold it in place until it is backfilled.

We even went around the corner and down the wall.

Then we cut pieces that will lay on the footer - again, all of this is just to channel any water that could possibly build up in the footer area and drain it away.

Just a side note....be careful walking in the grassy area where we were cutting!  I was cutting pieces and somehow the razor blade came out of my knife and it can't be found anywhere!  I spent a lot of time on my hands and knees combing through the area with no luck.  Frustrating...

We also spent a little time making sure the walls are all plumb - so Jim was up on the scaffolding with his level and would tell me which direction and how much to turn the turnbuckles.

Kyle and Julia are coming late tomorrow evening to help us with the pour so we're excited to see them and for the help!
