9.22.2014

Jim spent a chunk of the morning working on scaffolding.  If you look at the upper left corner of the building, he set up two sets of scaffolding over the garage door areas on our newly filled in floor area.  He designed the system so this time you can get up on the scaffolding at the garage doors and go the entire way around the building without getting down!  So no more moving the ladder around when we are pouring concrete.

Then he was back to work doing all the necessary shoring...here's the front section!

We had just started eating lunch when Jim heard a big truck coming up the driveway - our brick had arrived!  Jim wanted this load put up on top of the hill to be used for the house foundation eventually - we have another truckload coming tomorrow that we will stage near the carriage house site.

There's all our brick, waiting to be boomed off the truck and onto some heavy plastic we put down so it wouldn't get stained by sitting on the ground.

The drive took all the protective plastic covers off so we could really see the brick - it looks awesome!

Just like the concrete boom truck, everything is remote control now.  So the driver was able to put the forks into the brick cubes, lift them up...

...and set them down nicely on our plastic.

And of course that repeated until all of our brick was unloaded.

We are really happy with the way the brick looks.  After waiting so long and looking at so many samples, we know we made the right decision.  It's going to look great!

Because we used up all our big plastic sheets, I headed off to go buy more for tomorrow.  Jim got back to work on the shoring.  This is the back wall.

Jim is really pressing to get things done because - concrete is now ordered and is coming Friday morning!  20 yards of concrete so 2 trucks and the boom truck again!  So exciting.

After yesterday's temperatures in the 80s, today was quite different - only in the upper 50s but with a really strong wind all day which made it feel much, much colder.
