6.7.2015

It was back to working on the block today.  Jim started by putting in more brick ties.  First he has to drill through the flanges on the ICF with the drill, then he uses the hammer drill to drill through the concrete...

...and then finally uses the drill for attaching the tapcons.

We did lots of measuring and marking where all the steps have to be, according to Jim's brick layout.

After lunch, it was time to mix the mortar!

All done...

Working on the next level....

Working on the side...

First course is all done on the side.

Of course, there's always some cutting involved.

Starting to build up...

We used up all our mortar so it was time for another batch.  Measuring out all the sand...

Another batch ready to go!

Always have to take time to clean the equipment!

This section is all done with block - brick will sit on top.  There's still lots to do before brick though - like putting on membrane and flashing.  We have to decide on the color of mortar for the brick too and will have to divide the color into bags of precise weights so all the color is the same.  Whew!

More clean up!
