11.11.2019

We honor all veterans today - especially those near and dear to my heart...Jim (Air Force), my dad (Air Force), and Jim's dad (Merchant Marines).

It's so nice to see so many businesses honor veterans - much more than in the past.  I know we are so grateful to both Lowe's and Home Depot for offering a veteran's discount every day, not just on Veteran's Day!

Jim started his day by taking the 4Runner to Tubbs to see if he could get it safety inspected.  And it passed!  That's a huge relief - Jim will be able to drive it as needed and can work on any repairs next spring, hopefully when there's a car lift in the auto bay!

Once he got home, Jim put together the jamb extension for the dormer window and then installed it...

Then he had to stuff insulation in all the cracks...

Then he installed the new blind...

Looks great and will help keep the stairwell cozy!

Jim put up the top piece of door molding on the inside bathroom wall - this door frame is totally completed (well, besides painting).

Next up on the agenda was to install our first window frame molding!  Since we stare out the kitchen window the most, that's the first one that Jim worked on.  Putting up the bottom sill...

And the side molding...

 Then the top piece...

All done - and it's beautiful!!

For his final job of the day, Jim wanted to get the prepped areas caulked that he had done in the metal shop...

Scraping off the excess...

All of the cracks in the metal shop are now filled except part of one that goes underneath our stored box area - that will get filled once we can get at it.
High 32/Low 25 - winter weather advisory all day but no accumulating snow as I write this!
