11.10.2019

As we were leaving for church yesterday, we got to see a pretty sunset.  The tree butcher's work has allowed us to see the mountains in the horizon clearer - although the leaves being off the trees always makes a big difference anyway.

Jim spent a huge amount of time today resurrecting my old - emphasis on old - laptop.  The main reason was to load some software for my envelope printer that isn't compatible with my new computer - that way Jim could prove it works and list it on eBay.  Once he got the computer working, he went down and played with the envelope printer and got it to print some test pages.  He'll now be able to get that listed and hopefully sold - we keep trying to get rid of things that we no longer can use or need.

After that, he started lightly hand sanding all the window molding and jamb pieces...

There are lots of pieces so he did lots of sanding...

Then he was able to put the final coat of polyurethane on...

Another huge reason to get my old laptop working was that it had Jim's car engine diagnostic software on it.  He needs that now because the check engine light is on in the 4Runner.  It's due for its state inspection and it won't pass with that light on.  He was able to see that the catalytic converter isn't working properly but it also may be the oxygen sensor, which is what Jim originally thought.  So he'll do more investigating - he'd like to get it to pass inspection and wait until he has the car lift to do any major work.

The 4Runner was still all torn apart from the mice fiasco so Jim took this opportunity to put the jigsaw puzzle of parts back together...

All back together, clean and ready to go!
