Now that Jim has the side framework done for the garage door extension, he worked on putting up the spring mechanism...

He made a plywood spacer to attach the center support.  He actually made another one and is painting it - he'll replace this one with the painted version.

At this point, Jim is basically done with the garage door main components.  He ordered a couple of different brackets for the door rollers from Lowe's today - he'll put those on tomorrow.  The last thing he needs is a new longer pull cable that connects the bottom of the door to the spring and carries the weight of the door when lifted.  He'll have to go to the garage door company to get a new one made.  So definitely great progress - I can almost see the 4Runner parked inside!

That box checked for now, Jim was able to get back to working on the electric for the auto bay.  He figured out placement for the boxes and then used his hot knife to cut the path.  He's learned as he has gone along - in the second bay where he started, he ran the wires through the boxes, connecting them together.  But that was more difficult - this time he cut the path above the boxes and will be able to put the wire into the box from the top.

Jim stopped work a bit early - we went into Lowe's to pick up his garage door brackets and over to Staples to pick up fire school work before heading to church.
