Jim had another disjointed day - this one started dealing with transferring insurance coverage on the 4Runners and then heading out to the DMV to switch the plates over to the winter 4Runner. Jim and I always marvel at the DMV here - first, it's tucked in a beautiful, scenic area, but then the people are just so genuinely nice and helpful! And it never takes long, even when you walk in and the room seems full of people. Quite the different experience than the ones we had in Ohio.
Once he got back to the property, he had to spend some time getting plates on the winter car, switching headlight bulbs, and just checking it over so that hopefully it can pass inspection.
It got down into the teens overnight, but the temps in both the utility room and bathroom were in the upper 40s!
Since Jim had to drive my car to the DMV, he had to come back in the afternoon to pick me up. But even with all those interruptions, he still got tons done!
He worked in the auto bay this morning - all the fiberglass is in and it's ready for drywall!
Then he continued insulation work by moving up into the stairwell. He has the first layer of insulation in this area. He still has to do the steel work here but things are getting closed up!
Jim has known that the man door in the metal shop came with a slight bend in it. The door frame and opening are all straight but there is a bigger gap at the bottom of the door when it's shut. So Jim wanted to try to see if we could bend it a bit. He set up his fulcrum and lever (I got a short lesson on mechanical leverage to boot!).
Trying a different angle... We got it to make a slight difference in the fit. Jim wants to try working the top area tomorrow.
Next, we moved into the wood shop to put up another piece of drywall. Jim's sliding the piece down the wall...

He had to take apart the receptacle but then he got the piece in place and he's cutting out the receptacle.

The back wall is almost done - just one little piece left! It looks so different when you walk in the shop and see this wall now!
Not much time left in the day, but Jim wanted to get a little taping done in the second bedroom closet.
Out of tape - we've gone through 750 feet of tape so far!
End-of-the-day - the main part of the closet is taped!
