1.4.2017 - Power in the apartment!

Jim did a lot of electric work in the apartment today.  He mounted the box for the ceiling light in the entry way...

Then he got each of the receptacle boxes wired, pigtailed together and the hot wires capped.

He also put in our first receptacle.  This is temporary - by code, all of the apartment outlets have to be tamper resistant, which is crazy and will cost about double the cost of a normal plug.

The next step was to bring power from the main breaker box up into the apartment.  This required Jim to first drill a hole through all the layers of the deck.

Not an easy task...these are all the layers he had to drill through!

Ta da...hole is finished!

Then he put a piece of conduit and a connector through the hole as well as put the connector on from below.

Then he took wire down to the breaker box...

Wiring the wire into the receptacle...

All wired up...

Just need to connect the wire into the box.

Drumroll....we have our first working outlet in the apartment!  So exciting!  Plus this will help clean up a lot of the extension cords and multiple outlet boxes we have going all over.

Jim also made a mounting plate to go in between the studs above the breaker box.  This just keeps the wire flat and in place.

A huge accomplishment to celebrate today!
