1.16.2017

This was a day full of detail work for Jim.  He started in the master bedroom on finishing up fastening the angle piece.  Then he had to work on doing the backside of these studs - which required drilling a hole in the outside first so that he could fasten a screw in the back.

He put strapping in corners...

Then he made and installed blocking to tie the studs together in the double wall to give extra strength.

Then it was more detail work around our secret door into the attic space - he had to put up all the track and strapping pieces first.  He then made framing out of wood - he decided to do this on all the door openings.  It will make the finishing work when attaching either drywall or a door jamb so much easier.

Framing all done - ready for a door jamb!

Jim then made door framing for the opening in the living room...

We were trying to decide where we wanted the switch by the bedrooms to turn on the hallway lights - we had thought we wanted it on the little wall in between the rooms but Jim wasn't sure how he could make that work elegantly.  But of course he did - he used a wood block and a steel receptacle which brought everything out to the perfect spot.
